I'm torn about this this wall fan. It works great. The inside cover looks great once installed. The outside cover is very, very flimsy. I tried reducing the diameter of the ducting to 4" as this unit uses 6" so that I could use a better exterior grill. No-go, as my wall was too thin and the reducer I tried using added an extra 2 inches to the depth, so I was stuck using the cover it comes with. Ugly! Anyway, the install was a nightmare! I have a stucco house and cutting through the stuff was a pain. I would strongly reccommend using an actual hole cutter so you end up with a perfect circle. Trust me, you will appreciate it. I didn't. I used a sawzall and drill, so my hole was not perfect. Didn't think it would be a problem - but it was! On the inside, the hole has to be perfect in order to use the mounting holes. I accidentally cut away too much drywall on the inside leaving me with a couple mounting holes that had no drywall to bite into. Another reviewer mentions this as well. If this happens to you, get some toggle bolts or other good, big wall anchors - large enough that they spread out and bite onto the surrounding wall on the inside.
I was thinking I could install this in a hour - wound up taking me six (including a trip to Home Depot for toggle bolts).. Use a 6 3/8" hole cutter and you should be fine!
Overall this is a decent product. Made in the USA, which makes me proud, just wish it was a little higher quality (specifically the exterior grill). Not a bad deal. I almost bought the panasonic one, but I would still buy this Broan one over the panasonic just because its 1/4 of the price.
